Il Guardian ha confermato la notizia che stava circolando e resa nota dai media irlandesi: Dolores O’Riordan, la voce indimenticabile dei Cranberries, è morta a 46 anni a Londra. Lo ha confermato il suo addetto stampa.
È stata rilasciata una breve dichiarazione con pochi dettagli: "La cantante della band irlandese The Cranberries era a Londra per una breve sessione di registrazione. Non sono disponibili ulteriori dettagli in questo momento. I membri della famiglia sono devastati nel sentire le ultime notizie e hanno richiesto la privacy in questo momento molto difficile".
Nel 1990 si unì al gruppo dei Cranberries e il primo album insieme è stato No Need To Argue, che, anche per merito anche del singolo Zombie che tutti saprebbero canticchiare, ha venduto più di 17 milioni di copie. Dopo quel successo ci furono altre sette dischi, di cui l'ultimo è stato pubblicato nel 2017.
